With the official approval of UNESCO, the side event themed "Science, Creativity and Empowerment: World Heritage Education Towards the Future" organized by the World Heritage Institute of Training and Research for the Asia and the Pacific Region under the auspices of UNESCO (WHITRAP) during the 46th Session of the World Heritage Committee will take place on July 23 12:00 (local time) in Side Event Room 3 (MR 10), Level 1 of the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, India.

From the 44th to the 46th Session of the World Heritage Committee, WHITRAP has been hosting side events for three consecutive years, which fully demonstrates UNESCO's high recognition of our innovative work in heritage education, and further enhances the international influence of the Awards for World Heritage Education Innovation Cases (AWHEIC) (Click for details).

The 46th Session of the World Heritage Committee in 2024 will be held in New Delhi, India, from July 21 to 31. Under the guidance of the Chinese National Commission for UNESCO, the main agenda of this side event includes keynote speeches on innovative themes in future heritage education, the live announcement of the winners of the 2024 AWHEIC, and international sharing of experiences from the award-winning cases. The event will be held in a hybrid format, combining both online and offline participation.

The event will bring together representatives of global educational innovation, including the 2024 award-winning cases, to share and promote cutting-edge innovative concepts and cases in world heritage education. The aim is to enhance the systematicity, innovativeness, and inclusiveness of world heritage education through modern technology, strengthen international exchanges and cooperation, and jointly plan the future of world heritage education.

In recent years, with the AWHEIC as the core focus, WHITRAP has organized side events during three consecutive sessions of the World Heritage Committee. In the future, we will continue to forge ahead, comprehensively strengthen cooperation with the Heritage Committee, such as the World Heritage Young Professionals Forum and the World Heritage Site Managers Forum, and strive to establish the hosting of side events at each session of the Heritage Committee as a series of international event brands, with the aim of better promoting and leading the development of world heritage education innovation.
