Introduction:
Commissioned by the World Heritage Center, WHITRAP implements the “World Heritage and Sustainable Tourism Programme” (WH+ST) - Chinese Pilot Programme between 2016-2020. The programme is aimed to distribute and promote the core objectives of UNESCO’s WH+ST programme through capacity building. Case studies and comparative analysis at selected pilot sites will be launched to identify the main issues and solutions related to sustainable tourism in China, thus contribute to the application of sustainable tourism in Chinese contexts.

Base of the objectives of the WH+ST Programme, the Chinese Pilot Programme will be carried out according to the following themes:
1.Management of World Heritage as a Tourism Destination
2.Outstanding Universal Values - Based Sustainable Tourism
3.World Heritage Tourism Economy and Tourism Products
4.World Heritage Tourism and Community Engagement: Heritage Conservation and Community Empowerment


For Senior Research Specialists

Job responsibilities:
•To investigate and analyze the practical problem and development demand of the pilot heritage site, design a research plan and implement it based on the conservation of Outstanding Universal Value.
•To ensure the smooth communication among the work team, local government and related stakeholders, and to organize capacity building activities targeted to different audience;
•To write and submit research paper according to the schedule; and to summarize the outcome on time;
•To assist WHITRAP finalize the final report, and disseminate by publications or presentations;
•Working place is not limited, at least three – month accumulated working time on the site, and no less than 6 months devoted to the project.


Job qualification:
Priority is given to:
•Planning, Landscape, Protection of Cultural relics, Tourism management and other related majors, associate professor or above;
•Have experience in leading related projects in heritage protection, tourism management and development project;
•Excellence in at least one language, English or Chinese;
•Good team leader and player.



For Junior Research Specialists

Job responsibilities:
•To assist the senior research specialist design and implement the research plan;
•To ensure the smooth communication among the work team, local government and related stakeholders, and to organize capacity building activities targeted to different audience;
•To write and submit research paper according to the schedule; and to summarize the outcome on time;
•To assist WHITRAP finalize the final report, and disseminate by publications or presentations;
•Working place is not limited, at least six – month accumulated working time on the site, and no less than 9 months devoted to the project.

Job qualification:
Priority is given to:
•Planning, Landscape, Protection of Cultural relics, Tourism management and other related majors, Ph.D. candidate or above;
•Have practical experience in relevant research program;
•Excellence in both English and Chinese;
•Good team player;
