The Conference of WHITR-AP Governing Board and Unveiling Ceremony will Commence from July 22 to 23 in Beijing

The Conference of WHITR-AP Governing Board, Unveiling Ceremony and a series of activities will commence from July 22 to 23 in Beijing.

According to Resolution 41 of the 34th Session of the General Conference of UNESCO, and the agreement concluded between the Government of China and UNESCO on April 10th 2008 on the establishment in China of a ''World Heritage Training and Research Institute for the Asia and the Pacific Region'', a category 2 institute under the auspices of UNESCO. After their consultation, the first Conference of Governing Board will be held on July 22. The purpose of this meeting is to evaluate the constitution of the institute, propose the mid-term strategy, monitor the development of projects, review the plans and budgets for the year, and assess other international collaborative programs.

There will be an unveiling ceremony of WHITR-AP, opening ceremonies of significant projects, a forum on world heritage conservation, a roundtable meeting on the ''Preservation of World Heritage and Management of Sustainable Tourism,'' as well as other activities. Both domestic and foreign experts in the field of world heritage research, representatives from the Asian and Pacific region Embassy, international organizations, world heritage sites, NGO and news reporters, and approximately 150 invitees will attend the conference.
