On 25 October, WHITRAP Shanghai and the Institute of Heritage Science of the National Research Council of Italy (CNR-ISPC) held a bilateral meeting at the CNR Headquarters in Rome. Prof. SHAO Yong, Secretary General and Director of WHITRAP Shanghai discussed with Elena GIGLIARELLI, Senior Researcher at the CNR-ISPC of the cooperation between the two institutions. 

The meeting was also attended by Letizia MARTINELLI, Stefano CURSI, Elena VERTICCHIO, Anna Paola POLA from CNR-ISPC and LU Wei, Executive Deputy Director, Marie-Noël TOURNOUX, Project Director WHITRAP Shanghai, LIN Lin, Shanghai Tongji Urban Planning & Design Institute Co. Ltd (TJUPDl), Executive Deputy Director of Heritage Conservation and Culture Revitalization Institute, HU Lijun, Chief Engineer of Heritage Conservation and Culture Revitalization Institute, HUANG Aijiao, Deputy Director of Communication Department, Tongji University. 

The meeting allowed for lively and interesting presentations on recent work from Tongji, WHITRAP and the ISPC, in particular, on rural urban heritage studies and on the use of digital solutions for heritage conservation and urban studies.

The meeting started with the signature of the tripartite agreement of understanding (MoU) between the School of Architecture and Civil Engineering of Xiamen University (XMU-SACE), CNR-ISPC and WHITRAP Shanghai regarding the “Cultural Heritage Conservation and Enhancement of Urban and Rural Settlements and World Heritage Sites in Fujian Province, China”.

The Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche, (CNR) is the largest research council in Italy. IT was founded in 1923 and its headquarters are in Rome.
