For those listed as Important Historical Monuments under Special Preservation alone, more than 60 sites of them are related to education, including the Imperial College, Confucian Temple, Bailu Academy, Yuelu Academy, Red Building of Peking University, etc. In addition to their extraordinary values of history, science, art, culture and architecture, they serve as carriers and witnesses to Chinese educational traditions, and promote the spiritual and cultural development in all eras. Therefore, by putting forward the concept of heritage of education and in-depth research around the theme, it not only enriches the contents of cultural heritage, but also facilitates the subdivision of heritage types and diversifies world cultural heritage accordingly. |
