Introduction

Background
WHITRAP Shanghai, with the (HeritAP),will carry out a six-year project on World Heritage Contribution to Sustainable Development Goals, and is now calling for good practice in heritage conservation and management contributing to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). ‘HeritAP Initiative on World Heritage Contribution to Sustainable Development Goals’ is aiming to facilitate the understanding of the 2015 Policy document for the Integration of a Sustainable Development Perspective into the Processes of the World Heritage Convention and create appropriate tools for site managers to streamline recommendations for their effective use of heritage as a driver for sustainable development. Ultimately, HeirtAP would launch the report on World Heritage Contribution to Sustainable Development Goals, Streamlining Sustainable Development into Heritage Conservation and Management: A Roadmap for Practitioners.

In addition, the UNESCO Thematic Indicators for Culture (Culture| 2030 Indicators) set four transversal thematic dimensions to measure and monitor the progress of culture’s enabling contribution to the SDGs: Environment & Resilience; Prosperity & Livelihoods; Knowledge & Skills; Inclusion & Participation. HeritAP will annually call for good practices around one dimension from 2024 to 2027. Applicants are welcome to apply for one or multiple thematic dimensions. The theme for 2024 is: Environment and Resilience.
