The research projects on the Transcription and Annotation of the Baiheliang Inscription and Baiheliang Inscription Value Study, led by the School of Archaeology and Museology of Peking University and the UNESCO World Heritage Institute of Training and Research for the Asia and the Pacific Region (Beijing) have been concluded. Among them, the Transcription and Annotation of the Baiheliang Inscription aims to collect all materials about the Baiheliang Inscription, and carry out organization, analysis and research of these basic materials. The Transcription and Annotation of the Baiheliang Inscription consists of two parts: The first part is an introduction to the conditions of the Baiheliang Inscription: the second part comprises examples of the transcriptions and annotations. On the basis of the above-mentioned basic research, the Baiheliang Inscription Value Study consists of in-depth study of the heritage value, highlights the core heritage value of the Baiheliang Inscription, and carries out a comparative study of similar hydrological heritage.

Research found that the Nilometer in Egypt is the only existing hydrological heritage which still preserves materials remains of the water level observation methods in the world. Therefore, the research group believes that it is of great significance to explore the possibility of the joint nomination of world heritage of the two important hydrological heritages left by the two ancient civilizations in the world. Based on the above background, entrusted by the Municipal Development Committee of Culture and Tourism of Fuling District of Chongqing, the School of Archaeology and Museology of Peking University, WHITRAP Beijing and the Water History Department of China Institute of Water Resources and Hydro power Research (IWHR), started the feasibility study for the joint nomination of the Sino-Egyptian hydrological heritage. This report is a simplified version of the feasibility study, which aims to make a comparative analysis of the characteristics and value interpretation of the two heritage sites, and a preliminary discussion on the technical strategy for a joint nomination of world heritage. On this basis, if it is demonstrated that the work is worth further efforts, China and Egypt will subsequently carry out a series of basic research, and advance the joint nomination of world heritage between Chongqing and relevant heritage sites in Egypt.

At present, the simplified version of the project report has passed the review of the expert meeting on November 26th, 2021 and has been officially concluded.
