The 2009 Domestic Training Course on the Conservation Plan of Urban Cultural Heritage

The domestic training course on the Conservation Plan of Urban Cultural Heritage will be held in Shanghai from June 14 to 26, 2009, jointly organized by WHITR-AP and Shanghai Tongji Urban Planning &Design Institute. Designing for technical officials from World Cultural Heritage Sites (including Mixed Heritage Sites) in the Tentative List as well as Historic Cities / Towns / Villages, this course aims to help the participants to reach a better understanding of the goals of conservation plan, to master the main contents of conservation plan and relevant legal documents, and to enhance the ability of guiding the preparation, judging and implementing of conservation plan.
The total duration of the training course is 60 teaching hours, with the main courses on:
A. The principles of heritage conservation plan;
B. The documentation and analysis of heritage sites;
C. The specific contents of conservation plan;
D. The sustainable tourism of heritage sites;
E. The implementation and management of conservation plan.
This course will take a small-scale, a step-by-step training and communication methods to further conclude the conservation plan. In addition the teachers will make the good use of a sum of case studies to discuss the ideas of the integration of urban conservation and development.
