Jointly organized by Tongji University,Academic Committee of Historic Cities of China Urban Planning Society and National Research Center of Historic Cities of Tongji University, International Symposium on World Heritage Conservation 2006 will be held in Tongji University, Shanghai from June 8, 2006 to June 10, 2006 , just before “China Heritage Days”.
With the cooperative efforts of UNESCO World Heritage Centre, ICCROM and Ministry of Culture and Communication of France, this Symposium is greatly supported by Chinese National Commission for UNESCO, Ministry of Construction, P.R. China and State Cultural Relics Bureau, P.R. China. More than 20 distinguished guests including officials, consultants and experts from UNESCO World Heritage Centre, ICCROM, ICOMOS, Chinese National Commission for UNESCO, the Department of Architecture and Heritage affiliated to Ministry of Culture and Communication of France, Architecture and Heritage City of France, Ministry of Construction, P.R. China and State Cultural Relics Bureau, P.R. China will attend this Symposium. Over 40 professionals from relative institutes and World Heritage Sites in Asia Pacific Regions will also be invited to this symposium by the Organizing Committee.
Under the global background of World Heritage Conservation, this symposium will discuss conservation issues on different levels, including Global, Asian-Pacific and Chinese heritage, and at the same time, develop concerns on social and urban development policies and strategies.
